New relocation residents have 30 days after establishing permanent residence to change their out-of-state license to a Tennessee license. If you have a valid license from another state, a vision test is all that is required. For a first-time license, you must have a certified birth certificate and pass a written law exam, a vision test and a road test. Applicants under the age of 18 must also have their school attendance verification form their principal’s office and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Testing offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. No testing after 3:30pm.
